Nike’s latest addition to the ever-expanding Air Max family returns this month to celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday. The first shoe to feature Air in the upper, the Air Max Zephyr mixes a black base with plenty of color for this “Spring Festival” iteration.

Nike debuted its newest innovation in the field of Air last month, finally bringing the airbag technology up from the sole and into the upper with the new Air Max Zephyr. This addition of airbags to the top of the shoe adds an adjustable nature to the fit of the shoe, with the air moving to fit your foot’s natural shape rather than squeeze it into a preset one. Shortly after the Zephyr’s debut last month, the new silhouette returns in 2021 to help the Swoosh celebrate the Spring Festival, which marks the kickoff of the Lunar New Year holiday in February. For this special occasion, the Air Max Zephyr takes on a largely black upper constructed from ripstop and nubuck, with bright crimson hints peeking out from underlays around the toe box, midsole, and inner lining, while the upper’s air bubbles feature a colorful grid pattern on the inside.
