Nike’s bold ads from the turn of the 80s were never this risqué, were they? The Nike Sportswear Instagram just posted a photo pushing the latest colorway of the Sock Darts with a slogan that reads “Rock Out With Your Sock Out”, a clear branch-off of “Rock out with you c*&k out”- a favorite of collar-popped douche-bros everywhere. What’s more, the Nike Sportswear Instagram account is responding to comments with even more inappropriate behavior with remarks such as “Show us your…line” as a challenge to those who aren’t quite approving of the message. Even the NikeLab Instagram account is joining the fray. Again, we’re used to Nike taking the bold route with advertising and the conversation is certainly stirring, but this irreverence is certainly not justified.
