ASICS Has Some Impressive Packaging For The Original GEL-Lyte Retro

We’ve previewed the first-ever retro of the original ASICS GEL-Lyte already, but what we didn’t know is that select pairs will be packaged with come celebratory bonuses for the shoe’s 30th anniversary. Predating the split tongue of the more known GEL-Lyte III, the original GEL-Lyte model from 1987 is getting the retro treatment for the first time ever this year, debuting in one original colorway each for men (white/black/orange) and women (white/blue/yellow). Today we learn that select boutiques, including Germany’s The Good Will Out, will sell the GEL-Lyte paired with a retro-style ASICS shoe box, pin set of both OG colorways, a fan zine, and “Skimpy 9.9” socks referencing the original then-groundbreaking weight of 9.9 ounces of the GEL-Lyte back in ’87.
