Perhaps New Balance’s most recognizable retro/lifestyle sneaker is the 574 model. This shoe was originally a mash-up of the trail-inspired 575 and 576 models and debuted in the 1990s and was quickly adapted by urban/street circles – think Mos Def in the Black Star album cover. The NB brand is re-introducing this icon, but with some minor upgrades that not only appease today’s consumer, but also keeps the purists in mind. Starting off, the New Balance 574 for 2018 will feature a reduced toe-height for a sleeker profile, easing the club-footed look that this particular model can sometimes convey. Additionally, the 2018 upgrade will utilize a simplified seam construction and a one-piece lining for improved on-foot comfort. A new last shape for a better all-around fit including improved heel shape completes this improved take on this classic. Check out a detailed look at the New Balance 574 for 2018, and in case you missed it, see the incredible Friends and Family package that we featured on New Years Day.
