Ben Felderstein Nike Sportswear’s recognition for Chinese sneaker culture has been well documented over the years. Other than the United States, China is arguably the number one hot bed for the sneaker industry, with Nike at the forefront of the scene as much as it is are our own. We have seen the city of Shanghai specifically given love by way of an Air Max 90, its inclusion in the upcoming On Air Contest design competition, and much more, helping cement its standing as one of the leading metropolises part of the international superpower.
As part of Shanghai’s first-evercity-designed capsule collection of running and sportswear, the Swoosh has created a boisterously-designed take on the on-trend Air Max 98 silhouette that equips an all-over Chinese character graphic linking to the Shanghai Marathon supported by blue and orange accents on its branding, insoles, and heel loop. The overall color story and the materials, which includes Tyvek materials, mimic race bib material are are an overall reflection of race competition. The Air Max 98 “Shanghai Rebels” collection will release on Nike SNKRS China on October 19th. The entire Shanghai Rebels pack also includes the Zoom Fly SP and Pegasus 35 Turbo.
