The Nike Air Force 1 Low “De Lo Mio” Nods To Dominican Culture

Showing national pride is nothing new for Nike’s Air Force 1. With special models like the “Puerto Rico,” “Caribana Festival,” “Taiwan,” and more, the classic silhouette has been called upon time and time again as a canvas that enables its wearer to rep where they’re from. As the AF1 is model that boasts an exceptionally rich history in New York, Nike has now opted to use the timeless silhouette as a homage to one of the most vibrant communities in the diverse city: the Dominicans. Entitled the “De Lo Mio” — a Dominican term of endearment for a close friend — these special AF1s feature a white/red/blue color combo, much like the DR’s flag. A crisp white leather is used for the base, while a shimmering two-tone red and blue Swoosh provides dynamic detailing. Red laces with interwoven blue hits add even more bright pops of color, and each shoe’s tongue offers a unique hit as well: the right shoe offers a red “Republica” hit, while the left shoe opts for a white/blue tag with “Dominicana” text. Finishing details are then provided by large white domino lace deubres and a semi-translucent white midsole — with a large orange Swoosh visible under the outsole as well. These heartfelt Air Force 1s are set to release on Nike SNKRS November 17th and will retail for $165 USD, so check out a full set of images below while you wait for the drop.
