Concepts Unveils The Nike Kyrie 5 “Ikhet”

It has been quite the busy end of the year for the illustrious Boston-based boutique, Concepts, and their collaborative crop of collections with Nike. Highlighted by special releases for both the Purple and Green Lobster Dunks in celebration of the aesthetic’s ten-year anniversary, the heavy-hitting industry mainstay is set to dress up another sneaker from Kyrie Irving’s signature line of basketball sneakers in an intriguing new color scheme. Aptly given an “Ikhet” monicker, this sandy variety of the Kyrie 5 equips a number of hieroglyphics and Egyptian embellishments stemming from Irving’s all-seeing eye hand tattoo as well as his “woke” tendencies when it comes to certain off-court topics. Of course, the color of its upper comes from the countless miles of sand in the Egyptian desert, while its red tongue emulates the iconic Sphinx’s nose before decaying, and the purple outsole derives from the color of the sunset against the Ancient Pyramids.

“These guys are unbelievable creatives. What I love is that Concepts always has always identified specific cultural touchpoints and pushed things that make them their own,” Irving said. Grab an incredibly detailed look the Kyrie 5 “Ikhet” below and mark your calendars for their retail release on Christmas Day, December 25th. Pairs will be available right at tip-off of the Celtic’s Christmas game at the TD Garden Pro Shop at 3pm ET with a Concepts.com drop going down later that day at 5:30 pm ET. As is customary with the shop’s special drops, the pairs sold in-tore and on their website will come housed in the special co-branded packaging you see below.
