Jovani Hernandez atmos and adidas have co-created a handful of heritage and futuristic products throughout 2020, with all leaning towards the bold. Their latest collaboration, another ZX Alkyne, forgoes the wild zebra and tiger stripes of a previous release in favor of a deceivingly tame iridescent arrangement.
Rooted in the game-changing legacy of the ZX series from the ’80s, the silhouette boasts a plethora of overlays across its mixed-materials upper. Appropriate for night-time activity and appearing from decades ahead, all but the sneaker’s non-molded heel panels feature reflective finishes, with multi-colored swaths and laces illuminating the brightest. ZX 2K Boost-reminiscent midsoles indulge in a semi-translucent arrangement; lateral heels are branded with the sneaker’s name and midsole’s materials. Underfoot, the silhouette forgoes any Torsion bar, instead revealing Boost cushioning through the light tread. Zones at the forefoot and rear interrupt the sole unit’s predominant black and white scheme with an infrared-like hue.
