An “In the Heights” x Foot Locker x FILA Sneaker To Celebrate Film Premiere

In March 2008, Lin-Manuel Miranda brought a slice of Upper Manhattan – beyond the UWS – to Broadway with his musical, “In The Heights.” That same year, Miranda’s adaptation of Quiara Alegría Hudes’ story was nominated for 13 Tony Awards, and won four – including “Best Musical.” With Warner Bros.’ help, the tale of the Washington Heights was prepped for the big screen over the last couple of years, and is set to premiere at select theaters and on the HBO Max streaming service come June 10th. To celebrate the occasion, the storied film studio has teamed up with Foot Locker and FILA to release a limited-edition sneaker collaboration.

Scheduled to launch exclusively at Foot Locker’s Washington Heights Community Power Store and the retailer’s online webstore, the shoe of choice is a reimagined FILA Original Fitness silhouette. Constructed from soft leather and suede, the sneaker features design elements inspired by the “In The Heights” film. A white, grey, purple and berry color palette overtake the pair, as well as the special box in which the shoes are packaged. “El Sueñito” and “Paciencia Y Fé” messages are embroidered on each shoe’s lateral heel. (These words translate into “The Little Dream” and “Patience and Faith,” and are recurring themes in the story of Nina Rosario, Benny and other characters of “In The Heights.”) The film’s logo also appears on the tongue, sock-liner and underfoot, visible through the semi-translucent outsole.

As part of this collaboration, Warner Bros. is fostering and contributing to the beauty, creativity and culture that exists in the largely-Dominican community of the Heights. In addition to launching the FILA sneaker at the 605 W 181st St-located Foot Locker store, a handful of pairs will be auctioned through Charity Buzz, with all proceeds supporting the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance.
