Nike Revisits The Air Command Force On This Air Force 1 Low

The Nike Air Force 1 has been celebrating its 40th anniversary in style over the past 11 months. In addition to boasting heritage and new styles, Bruce Kilgore’s iconic design has also pulled inspiration from other classic basketball sneakers from the past, including the Air Command Force from 1991.

Previously, the 40-year-old silhouette harkened back to the bold, visible Air unit-donning Nike Basketball shoe, borrowing its iconic “Lion Blue” and “Bright Crimson” color combination. The latest take indulges in a far more muted arrangement, with profile swooshes and collar lining interrupting the otherwise “colorless” ensemble. The Air Force 1 Low exchanges traditional logo hits on the tongue label and upper heel for text stylized like that found on the Air Command Force. Underfoot, the sole unit favors a semi-yellowed finish for an “aged” aesthetic that’s fitting for the anniversary celebration. Lastly, the oft-imitated traction boasts a light gum brown that’s sure to win countless fans over.

Enjoy official images of the pair ahead, and anticipate a Nike.com launch soon.

For more from under the NIKE, Inc. umbrella, check out the Air Jordan 11 “Cherry” set to drop in December.
