The Nike Full Force Lo Takes The Air Force III On A Weight Loss Journey

Even in 2023, the 1980s era of basketball footwear continues to prove itself to be timeless. The Dunk, Air Force 1, 550, and Rivalry continue to be mainstay heritage options for their respective brands, opening the door for other athletic sportswear imprints to dive into their own archives and offer a taste of their own history. Nike is taking things a step further by offering lightly modernized takes on these classics, as seen with upcoming new releases like women’s Gamma Force, a take on the Court Force, and now the Full Force, a new take on 1988’s Air Force III.

That third iteration of the Air Force line is easily the beefiest of the series. It read more like a winter boot than a suitable basketball sneaker, which is why this reductive approach to the model makes plenty of sense despite these updates being generally scoffed at by older heads. It’s hard to ignore the AFIII’s DNA within the design, particularly at the front quarter, mid-panel, and ankle, but with a significantly slimmed down sole that, based on the dip at the mid-foot, is very much from the late 1980s. The most obvious nod to the base concept is the over-sized FORCE logo at the tongue.
