Sneaker News It’s a big news day for the New York Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu. She was announced as the cover athletes for NBA 2K24 WNBA Edition, earning the recognition alongside the late Kobe Bryant, the chief cover star for the 25th installment of the 2K series. The game will officially release on September 8th, weeks ahead of the 2023-2024 season.
In addition to the cover announcement, we can confirm that the Nike Sabrina 1 signature shoe is scheduled to launch at retail on August 3rd, 2023 in the “Ionic” colorway. Featuring various shades of a mauve tone, this debut drop was first announced back in February during the 2023 All-Star Weekend in Salt Lake City. Since the start of the WNBA season, Ionescu has been regularly rotating the Sabrina 1 in a variety of colors. The Sabrina 1 features a standard cushioning package of React Foam, Zoom Air at the forefoot, and a mid-foot lockdown band.
Given Nike’s ongoing partnership with the NBA 2K franchise, it’s possible that a special edition colorway of the Sabrina 1 is planned, either as a virtual pair in the game, or as a limited edition release. Previously, Nike has released the Kobe 5 Protro “Reverse Chaos” and Nike PG 4 “Digi-Camo”, among others.
