Another nod to the 1980s.

Devin Booker’s Latest Nike Book 1 PE References The 1985 Air Jordan 1 “Metallic Purple”

While we await more in-line releases of  the Nike Book 1 signature shoe, Devin Booker is keeping the buzz alive around his new signature shoe by sporting some eye-catching Player Exclusives that should get Nike historians and fanatics quite excited.

Already sporting colorways inspired by the Air Max 95 “Neon” and most recently the Air Jordan 1 “Shattered Backboard”, Devin turns back the clock to the mid-1980’s with this tribute to the “Metallic Purple” colorway of the Air Jordan 1. As one of the more elusive OG AJ1 grails in existence, this classic colorway has since released emerged as Retro under the Jordan umbrella on two occasions  — once during the Jumpman tongue label days and a second time as a women’s exclusive — although neither are a true re-issue. The “Metallic Purple” was also one of four colorways from the Air Jordan 4 “Metallic Pack” of 2020.

D Book’s PE sports an all white upper that combines a leather fore-foot and toe with the canvas-like textile on the heel, while purple finish arrives on the swoosh and ankle collar. It’s less of a “Metallic” finish and more of a glossy patent leather, but the direct inspiration is clear.

This latest PE will not hit retail, however the Nike Book 1 “Ashen Slate” colorway is set to arrive soon.
