Table Tennis adidas Shoes From The 70’s Resurface

The adidas Tischtennis is back. Introduced in the late 70’s as a table tennis interpretation of the Stan Smith, the Tischtennis arrived at a time when the sport helped ease tensions during the Cold War in what’s commonly referred to as “ping pong diplomacy.” The model resurfaced in two colorways in 2020, now taking to shelves once more by way of a traditional green and white women’s pair.

Defined by its light, breathable mesh construction, the Tischtennis co-opts a familiar look with ribbon three stripes branding and a heel adidas trefoil logo. Grey suede panels appear on the toe and heel of the shoe, complemented by white canvas material towards the eyelets. Underfoot, a truly distinctive curved gum sole readies the silhouette for high-intensity movement, adding grip to complete the design.

While engineered as a table tennis shoe, the Tischtennis could also prove suitable for the growing game of pickleball given the sport’s similar court size. In any case, fans of this look should be able to pick up a pair soon as the model has already arrived at a variety of retailers. Take a glimpse at detailed images below while we await news of an official adidas.com drop date.
