A Racy “Black/Volt” Arrives On The Nike Air Max 97

Subtle accents add flair to a black base.

A Racy “Black/Volt” Arrives On The Nike Air Max 97

The Nike Air Max 97 has taken a back seat to cuts like the Air Max Plus in recent months, but the Christian Tresser-designed shoe has continued to surface sporadically in under-the-radar fashion.

The first new pair to surface in months, this installment comes coated in black with “Volt” hits on the Nike branding throughout. The accent color isn’t necessarily tied to Air Max 97 heritage in particular, but consistently appears across myriad Air Max icons. Even if used delicately as seen here, it evokes the electric 90s-era color palettes that defined the first colorways of several Air-equipped runners turned lifestyle classics.

While you’d be justified to call most of the upper “monotone,” the shoe’s wavy overlays appear in a slightly lighter grey shade for subtle differentiation. Underfoot, a white midsole and black outsole complete the look, the latter of which delivers another splash of “Volt” for added flair.

The Nike Air Max 97 “Black/Volt” is set to arrive in Fall 2024 for $175 in men’s sizing. Enjoy official images below and tap our Sneaker Release Dates page for more from the Swoosh.
