The Deconstructed New Balance 1906A Comes Coated In Grey

New Balance found a hit in the 2002R “Refined Future” pack in the early 2020s, capturing deconstructed and tech-runner aesthetics in one stroke to much acclaim. A few years later, the New Balance 1906 has matched if not overtaken the 2002R in terms of popularity, with an endless stream of collaborations and compelling general release colorways flooding the newswire. Therefore, it only makes sense that New Balance would want to bring the “Refined Future” theme to the trending series, and they’ve done so with a new version dubbed the New Balance 1906A.

This grey-dominant pair is the third colorway to surface thus far, although none have released at the time of this writing. Given the Boston brand’s synonymous relationship with grey footwear, it comes as a sensible choice to help introduce the new model to the masses. The shoe takes the standard 1906 silhouette, but the incorporation of oversized, semi-detached overlays renders a more intriguing aesthetic.

Detailed images reveal various instances of metallic silver leather near the quarter and added underlay panels, some of which cover portions of the midsole. Additionally, the tongue label is stitched diagonally and the forefoot eyestay appears closer to the toe, bringing the laces further down. Underfoot, to no surprise, the sole and TPU heel counter remain identical to all other 1906 variants.

New Balance hasn’t floated a release date for this particular pair, but there’s a Silver/Gold colorway dropping July 24th for $170. It’s likely these will follow suit later on in Fall 2024, but know that our Sneaker Release Dates page will display firm release information as it comes in.
