Sneaker News Among the more excruciating “What If?” possibilities in NBA history falls on none other than Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway, the Memphis stand-out that rose to stardom alongside Shaquille O’neal in Orlando. Penny had the handles of a point guard and the physicality of a small forward in a shooting guard’s body, and after reaching the NBA Finals in just his second season, the future was clearly his to lose.
Sadly, his career was derailed by injury as the Penny era only lasted for a few years. Still, his stardom was undeniable. Despite not reaching All-Star ranks since 1998, Penny’s legend continued through the popularity of his Nike footwear — primarily behind the Air Foamposite One and Air Max Penny. The latter is making a considering return in 2022, with collaborations with Social Status and a number of new colorways reaching store shelves, but all eyes are on the OG “Orlando mix of black, royal, and white.
