Jared Ebanks Similar to the GORETEX tooling of its UNDERCOVER collaboration this past autumn, The Swoosh is now borrowing the highlighted heel counter aesthetic of the latter Nike Air Force 1 by dressing the back half of its latest 40th anniversary offering in a contrasting patent leather construction.
Dissimilar to the remainder of the pair’s upper – which encourages a near all-white ensemble through crisp white smooth leathers and color-matched laces – the jet-black treatment of the heel’s patent leather construct provides a stark contrast to the surrounding colorless sock liner and tongue. Matching the glossy composition across its “Royal Blue” midfoot Swooshes, the latter shade further denotes its presence through the heel tab’s 80s-inspired embroidered “NIKE AIR” text and adjacently placed tongue tab. Underfoot, the trio of tones concludes with a clad-white sole unit accented by pitch-dark AIR branding.
