Nike Honors The Godfather Of Air, M. “Frank” Rudy, With This Bold Air Max Scorpion

Nike Honors The Godfather Of Air, M. “Frank” Rudy, With This Bold Air Max Scorpion

It’s difficult to imagine NIKE, Inc. with Air cushioning.

Debuted in 1979, the packaged gas solution was proposed and developed by Marion “Frank” Rudy, a former NASA aeronautical engineer. Prior to Tinker Hatfield’s breakthrough Nike Air Max 1 design in 1987, however, the performance-oriented cushioning wasn’t visible to the world. Silhouettes like the Air Max Scorpion have fully taken advantage of Hatfield’s genius while also commemorating the man who lay the foundation.

The latest Air Max sneaker to honor Rudy features an eye-catching blue and orange color scheme. Flyknit uppers enjoy a rich shade of the former, while the exaggerated Air bubble underfoot keeps things exciting in the latter. “Est. 2022” is stamped on the sole unit to mark the Air Max Scorpion’s debut year, whereas design blueprints are printed on the sockliners. Additionally, the bold style arrives with a barometer to further celebrate Nike Air.

Enjoy official images of the pair ahead, and anticipate a nike.com launch before summer.
