Asphaltgold Produces An “Impromptu” Rendition Of The ASICS EX89

Released over five years ago, Asphaltgold’s last collaboration with ASICS drew heavily from the history of their hometown. Its long overdue sequel is equally personal, as the retailer turns the EX89 into a tangible expression of their love for music.

Despite its namesake — which takes inspiration from the unique, improvisational nature of Jazz — the Asphaltgold x ASICS EX89 “Impromptu” is not at all lacking in intention. Over an entire year in the making, the collaboration combines a mix of premium materials, with nubuck, hairy suede, and soft leather applied throughout the shoe’s exterior. And though different in their respective textures, each fixture is complementary to one another, as they’re all dressed in natural tones. And though the satin lining and midsole follow suit in color, the branded tag along the lateral side opts to style the boutique’s name in a bold, dark black font.

The Asphaltgold x ASICS EX89 “Impromptu” will be available on August 12th via asphaltgold.com as well as the Asphaltgold App. As we await the launch, enjoy a closer look at the pair via the detailed imagery ahead.
