Kid's-exclusive (for now).

Think Pink With This Nike Air Max 1

The Nike Air Max 1 has had a blockbuster year, but it’s already looking forward to 2024.

Over the last few months, Tinker Hatfield’s revolutionary design has been confirmed to launch in handfuls of styles throughout its 37th anniversary, including a “Sport Royal Big Bubble” makeover for Air Max Day 2024. Several spring-ready ensembles have also emerged on the original Air Max silhouette, which now includes a kid’s pair covered in shades of pink.

Pink Nike sneakers aren’t new – several coincided with the release of Barbie in July – but the newly-surfaced style opts for color-blocking rooted in heritage. While not a one-to-one replica of inaugural “University Red” and “Sport Royal” looks, the upcoming kid’s Air Max 1 features a “White” mesh base that sets the stage for contrasting tones across the upper and sole unit. A muted pink takes over nubuck panels from vamp to spine, and is complemented by punchier shades of the titular color via the profile swooshes and mudguards. Plastic upper eyelets and “Nike” branding on the tongue label follow suit.

The color scheme stays the same underfoot. The bulk of the midsole opts for a “colorless” finish that allows for the visible Air unit’s rosy tint to indulge in the spotlight. Waffle-patterned traction, however, brings the upper’s hot pink flair below, keeping things fresh almost 40 years after the shoe’s debut.

Enjoy official photos of the pair ahead, as you wait for a nike.com launch come Spring 2024. The kid’s Air Max 1 is priced at $100 USD; if Adult sizing is ultimately offered, those pairs will be priced at $140 USD.
