Reebok Serves Up A “French Open” Court Victory Pump

Remembering Michael Chang's improbable run in Paris.

Reebok Serves Up A “French Open” Court Victory Pump

Reebok looks to cash in on buzz surrounding the French Open in May with a special take on the Court Victory Pump, one of the most unique and memorable retro tennis shoes of all time.

While the colorway doesn’t feature any distinctive ties to the French Open’s logo or other hallmarks, the model itself presents as a sensible choice. Reebok athlete Michael Chang, one of the most popular tennis players of the late 80s and 90s, won the French Open back in 1989, making this year’s event the 35th anniversary. Chang was (and still is) well regarded for his style, particularly when it comes to Reebok and the Court Victory Pump. Sneakerheads might recall ad campaigns featuring Chang rocking Pumps back in the day, and Reebok actually brought back the green and yellow Court Victory Pump “Michael Chang” earlier this year.

This “French Open” pair aligns well with the electric, sporty colorways the Court Victory Pump is best known for, complete with pink and purple hits on the shoe’s TPU structures and striped pattern at the heel. A retro Hexalite logo takes to the heel in green-on-black stitching, matched by more hits on the outsole and tennis ball air pump on the tongue. Otherwise, the design sticks to the basics with a white leather upper and black outsole and sock liner.

Enjoy official images below and mark your calendar for the shoe’s release via Reebok at midnight on May 10th, ten days before the French Open starts.
