Air Trainer 1 Shima Pack

NIKE AIR TRAINER 1 WEEK

Our final Air Trainer 1 featured of the week focuses on a set made exclusively for the European, Canadian, and Asian market – the Nike Air Trainer 1 ‘Shima Shima’ Pack of 2003. In fact, many Air Trainer 1s were exclusive to European retailers, and the ‘Shima Shima’ Pack (which also included three Dunk High colorways and two Air Max 1 colorways) was certainly one of the more notable of the bunch; the two primary colorways is the White/Blue/Grey version, recognized as ‘Shima 1’ and the Brown/Hay version, recognized as Shima 2, but a third ‘Shima 3’ colorway was released for the Nike Dunk High only (light blue/yellow). Each set of ‘Shima’ releases were released simultaneously (obviously beginning with the 1), but what tied all three capsules together was the unique pinstriping on the interior lining of the shoe. The term ‘Shima’ is one of the more cryptic of nicknames in Nike footwear history considering this clearly Japanese-derived concept was at one point released outside of the country of origin, but the respect for the Shima Pack is certainly validated for its great colorways and awesome materials. This concludes the first wave of Air Trainer 1 throwbacks, so check out the gallery below and stay tuned for a fresh new crop of kicks next week in Classics Revisited!
