The Air Jordan 6 Doernbecher Returns After Ten Years

The Air Jordan 6 Doernbecher Returns After Ten Years

The Air Jordan 6 Doernbecher is officially returning as part of the Doernbecher Freestyle’s 15th Anniversary celebration, a week-long re-release event that saw some of the key releases of the charitable collaboration become available on Nike SNKRS. Jordan Dark’s design of the Air Jordan 6 “Doernbecher” is certainly one of the more coveted among sneaker collectors for its unique look, dressed in a premium navy blue, gold, and red that achieves a luxe aesthetic while representing the young patient’s inspirational fight. Toting two significant dates in Dark’s history, this sneaker bears “06/08” as well as “04/09” to resemble his first and last days of chemo therapy. Its beloved color scheme speaks to his high school colors, while its semi-translucent outsole was the very first of its kind on this illustrious Jumpman model.

At the age of 21, Jordan is cancer free, and is constantly recognized wearing his now-iconic sneakers all around the country. When asked to give advice to future DB Freestyle designers, his message was simple: “Take your time, beauty is always in the details.” Those looking to grab these Jordan 6s once again will be able to do so on Nike SNKRS on February 23rd at 10am ET.
