Something Special in Your City: Puma GV Special at Shelflife Cafe

The release of the Puma GV Special is exciting on its own, couple it with Puma’s campaign focus of “something special in your city” and the sneakers truly come to life. Breaking from tradition of highlighting significant people or places in our community, we decided to focus on something a little closer to our hearts - the Shelflife Café.

Seeds of the Café were planted in 2009 at our 119 Loop Street store where we wanted to open a café underneath the store, but as is the nature of the universe, this vision only came into fruition with the opening of our new Bree Street location.

The Shelflife Café is located front and center of our new Cape Town space, putting community and connection at the forefront - something that forms the foundation of Shelflife. One thing that makes the café extra special is the center-piece mosaic, which tells the history of Shelflife for the past eighteen years, with no other artwork like that available anywhere else apart from the stain-glass window in our Joburg store which shares a similar story.

The Café offering brings the best quality South African and global treats, ranging from coffee and croissants to Culture Lab Kombucha and samosas. The space is perfect to take meetings with free wifi available, to grab a quick coffee with friends or to have a moment to wind down during the day. The Café is truly a way for customers to immerse themselves in a uniquely Shelflife experience and connect with like-minded individuals (without needing a raffle ticket this time).

Puma GV Special 'Frosted Navy' & 'Frosted Ivory'

In light of paying homage to what makes your city special, comes the Puma GV Special. In the late 1970s, Argentinean tennis player Guillermo Vilas went on a title-winning rampage. Known for his one-handed backhand and off-court charm, Puma decided to honour Vilas and rename the Puma ‘California’ tennis shoe to the ‘GV Special’. This iconic sneaker now returns for another round of history in this special edition.

The silhouette features a premium white leather upper with perforated detailing at the toe-box. Both sneakers see a stripe alone the side of the sneaker, in white and navy, respectfully with a sole to match the stripe detailing. The sneaker sits upon a chunky sole for utmost comfort and style.

In keeping with the theme, the release of the GV Special will be accompanied by bespoke menu items, only available at the Shelfife Café. From the 11th of May every purchase of the Puma GV Special will come with a free limited edition Espresso White Hot Chocolate and a White Chocolate Bombolone. These limited edition Café items are available to purchase for all customers, while stock lasts.

for R2499 per pair in UK7-UK10
