Joe’s Jeans to Enter Shoe Market

Joe’s Jeans Inc. announced Tuesday plans for branded women’s footwear.

The primarily denim company inked a licensing deal with Burano LLC to manufacture and distribute the shoes. According to a release, the initial term of the agreement is for three years, with minimum net sales commitments of $5.5 million over the term.

Ballet flats will debut first and will be a mainstay in the line, with new styles unveiled each season. The first shipment arrives this month, while a line of wedges, flat sandals and casual heels is expected to begin shipping in April. The fall line, including boots, is set for July delivery. The first collection will be available at major department and specialty store retailers, company-owned stores and online. Retail prices range from $120 to $145.

“We believe our new line of Joe’s branded footwear will contribute to continued brand name recognition and overall growth for 2010,” Marc Crossman, president and CEO of Joe’s Jeans, said in a statement. “The shoe line will reflect and embody the Joe’s customer, as a fashion-forward, casual woman with an independent streak.”
