Jordan Brand Names President

Larry Miller is coming back to footwear.

Nike Inc. said Miller, who recently resigned as president of the NBA’s Portland Trailblazers, would re-join the Beaverton, Ore.-based firm as president of the Jordan brand. The executive previously held the position from 1999 to 2006.

“It’s great to have Larry return to the Jordan Brand at such an exciting time,” said the brand’s namesake, Michael Jordan, in a written statement. “He is a strong leader, knows our brand and understands how to accelerate the growth of a premium business.”

Miller replaces Keith Houlemard, who will now be in charge of Nike’s worldwide Olympics efforts as GM. Reporting to Nike VP of global brand and category management Trevor Edwards, Miller will be responsible for growing the brand.

“The Jordan Brand continues to drive strong momentum in the marketplace, and we look forward to Larry expanding our market leadership while delivering Jordan Brand experiences that connect deeply with future generations,” Edwards said.
