NPD Group has a new Sports and Leisure VP.
Matt Powell, who has held roles at Modell’s, Sneaker Stadium and SportsOneSource over his 40 years of experience in the industry and writes the Sneakernomics blog on Forbes.com, will join the team.
“Having Matt [join our team] is a game changer,” said Dennis Brown, group president of the Americas. “His analytical, strategic and marketplace expertise is invaluable to NPD.”
Beginning in November 2013, NPD acquired Boulder, Colo.-based Leisure Trends — which covers market research in sports and recreation — effectively expanding its industry reach.
“I’m excited to be coming onboard during a time of great change for the industry and for NPD as they continue to build their Sports Practice and introduce new business solutions,” Powell said in a statement.
