5 Things FN Loves at Rebecca Minkoff’s New Store

Rebecca Minkoff fans have just a few days left before the “it”-bag master and downtown-savvy designer debuts her first U.S. store.

Expectations were high for her first tech store after the designer tested a smart shopping wall last holiday season at the San Francisco Centre and her debut of smart accessories this year.

The flagship, at 96 Greene St. in Soho, opens on Saturday (San Francisco debuts in early December), but FN got a sneak peek today. Here are the coolest things we found:

1. A Jetsons-Worthy Welcoming Committee
Welcome to the smart wall. Order a complimentary beverage on one of three interactive touch screens when you walk into the store. And while you’re at it, find a few must-have pieces, and add them to a fitting room all with the swipe of your finger. You’ll get a text when your coffee and fitting room are ready.

2. Far-Out Fitting Rooms
Tech-savvy fitting rooms read the tags of the pieces you’re trying on and automatically update a digital shopping cart on the fitting-room mirror. Shoppers can select a new size (which will then be delivered to the room), call a stylist or find matching pieces.

3. Mood Lighting
Want to see how that cocktail dress will look at the company Christmas party? Try the “Soho After Dark” light setting in the fitting room to make sure it’s just right. There are four different options to choose from, including “Brooklyn Morning” and “Afternoon on the High Line.”

4. Smart Fit Sessions
Save your fit session on the Minkoff app, and you’ll be able to access it when you’re ready to make a purchase. Online wish lists can be accessed in store and recreated in the fitting room, too.

5. All-Access App
Besides the cool in-store experience, the new app gives users 24/7 access to their accounts and the designer’s world. From sartorial content to building a shopping list, the platform is a real extension
of the mobile-meets-in-store shopping experience.
