Louis Leeman’s 5 Tips For Men’s Holiday Style

Designer Louis Leeman is known for his cool, tailored style just as much as his vibrant men’s footwear. For pre-fall ’15, the designer’s first time showing the season, his signature slip-on sneakers had a touch of festivity via tartan prints. In honor of this, we asked Leeman to share five tips for men on dressing for the holiday party circuit (hint: no ugly Christmas sweaters):

1. “For the holidays, definitely wear a loafer. It might be embellished or in velvet.”

2. “Army boots would be wrong.”

3. “You can pair socks with loafers, especially for the holiday season. But they have to be thin, cotton socks. A nice dark color would be nice, a dark purple or burgundy.”

4. “Your outfit really depends on the loafer. If there’s a lot going on in the shoe, then you have to tone it down with what you’re wearing. I’m all about the suits. If it’s an embellished loafer, I would go simple and wear black. But if you have a simple loafer, you can wear a really standout blazer.”

5. “Avoid the famous ugly Christmas sweater.”
