Camuto Group Promotes Executives

Camuto Group is making executive changes following the death of founder and CEO Vince Camuto in January.

Alex DelCielo was promoted to CEO from his previous positions as president and COO. Camuto’s widow and the company’s former creative director, Louise Camuto, has been promoted to chief creative officer and will continue to oversee all marketing efforts.

Julio Martini, SVP of global sourcing, was named COO and also will manage global operations, while chief merchandising officer Ed Ferrell was named president.

The executive staff has bright expectations for the company.

“In addition to being a gifted designer and merchant, Vince was a terrific businessman who structured the organization to drive future growth and positioned executives to write the next chapter. Each member of the leadership team has worked closely with Vince for a number of years and is poised to continue to enhance the portfolio and take his vision forward,” DelCielo told Footwear News.

The Greenwich, Conn.-based company was founded by Camuto in 2001, and he grew it into an industry powerhouse. Camuto died on Jan. 21. At the time, DelCielo told FN:

“What made Vince amazing was his passion, his integrity and the way he cared for people,” he said. “For a man to accomplish what he did and not have an ego has always been absolutely incredible to me. Vince touched people around the world and had the ability to make everyone feel important. His legacy will be not the companies he built but the people he built. I will miss my friend, my teacher and my inspiration.”
