Bel Powley & Prabal Gurung Sound Off During FN Achievement Awards

Prabal Gurung and Ben Powley are an unstoppable pair. The duo attended the FN Achievement Awards together, fresh off Powley’s win as Best Actress at the Gotham Independent Spirit Awards, as Powley helped introduce and award Gurung with FN’s Icon Award for Social Impact.

“Prabal just leant over and said that would be hilarious if I sang ‘Hello’ by Adele better than Fergie, but that’s not going to happen,” said Powley, after Fergie opened the show with a quick modified rendition of the song.

“I really admire Prabal’s dedication to his foundation and to help underprivileged children and the people of Nepal. He’s dedicated his full heart to the people of Nepal. He continues to endorse empowerment for the nation’s young girls, who will soon grow up into great women ready to take on the world,” she added, as she welcomed Gurung to the stage.

It was then Gurung’s turn to praise the actress for her accomplishments.

“I just wanted to thank you very much for coming here. Just so everyone knows, she won the Gotham [Independent Film Festival] Award for Best Actress and beat the Cate Blanchetts of the world, so tonight we’re going to [celebrate] and get wasted after this.”

When asked about her win, Powley said she was extremely surprised. “I wasn’t expecting it one bit. I’d had like three gin and tonics. I freaked out. Because I was nominated against Cate Blanchett, I thought in my head, ‘It’s great to be nominated, but there is no chance.'”

Also in Gurung’s corner was Eva Chen, who took to Instagram to congratulate the power player: “With my darling @Prabalgurung, who won a well-deserved Social Icon Award at #fnaatonight for his tireless efforts for Nepal,” she wrote.
