They Are Wearing: Toronto International Film Festival

Kicking things off on a charitable note, Toronto’s full-tilt swans, royalty and Hollywood stars gathered at The Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto for the AMBI Gala, which aims to raise funds through the cinema community to help worthy causes.

This year, the chosen organization was the Prince Albert the II of Monaco Foundation, which concerns itself with combating climate change, global warming and other worldly Eco-issues. The Prince himself was on hand, though his elegant better-half Princess Charlene was not.

Hosted by Martin Short, white-tie the event was co-chaired by Heidi Klum (away on America’s Got Talent duty) and James Franco, who, in a spiffy pair of Christian Louboutin dress shoes, was the night’s selfie-magnet.

Misha Barton and Michael Madsen also served as committee co-chairs. The gala was under the patronage of producer Andrea Ieverolino and Lady Monika Bacardi.

Most female attendees were spotted in towering stilettos from Pierre Hardy, Jimmy Choo, Oscar de la Renta and Azzedine Alaïa.

But the evening’s special guest entertainer, Diana Ross, opted instead for comfort-minded beige wedges as she took to the stage to perform all her hits. Of course, which that hair, that voice and that tulle and drippy sequin ensemble, no one (but us) was paying much attention to her feet. Though pretty soon, no matter how precarious the footwear they were wearing, everyone swarmed the stage to dance.
