Children’s brand Akid and new commerce and editorial site, Mini Mode, have teamed up to create limited edition sneakers. FN was on the scene as Akid and Mini Mode launched its emoji-laden kids’ kicks at Babesta in New York City on Wednesday night for a sneak peek ahead of the official release.
The collaboration features Akid’s signature high-top silhouette in premium soft canvas in two colorways, light blue and mustard, featuring emoji-inspired patchwork.
Mini Mode seemed to be a perfect fit for the partnership, as creators Maria Benetos and Colleen Crivello take the time to curate their site specifically for chic moms, as well as feature product ideas for babies, toddlers and tweens.
This partnership follows another first for Akid, which was its summer debut of its first-ever sandal style, the Aston.

Since launching in March 2014, Akid has had continued success. From collaborations with Mara & Mine to North West among its famous fans, the brand can be found in top boutiques and department stores such as Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Babesta, Kitson and more. As the brand grows, founder Ashleigh Dempster told FN to expect more fun events in the future.
