Balmain Resort 2016: Shoe Highlights

For its resort ’16 collection, Balmain is continuing its ultra-vampy shoe message with heels fit for glamazons (they are often go-tos for leggy celebrities as well, natch). Creative Director Olivier Rousteing focused on skyscraper stilettos, playing with wrap-tying and cutouts.

Roping details on the heels strapped in the foot, done in either black or nude suede. Some styles featured two colors, combining whites with creams for an intertwined effect. The strappy look is nothing new at Balmain — they do it every season — but it seems to be a particularly hot category for the luxury brand. Its signature pin-thin golden heels were used throughout.

Will the day come when we see Balmain do a whole collection of flats? The brand has done that before. It would be refreshing to see Rousteing think outside of his comfort zone for once, perhaps with a Balmain take on a clunkier heel (think Mary Janes or, dare we say it, platforms). For now, the single-sole push Balmain remains in force.
