First Look: Casadei Spring 2016 Shoe Collection

While Casadei may have titled spring ’16  “A New Odyssey,” the collection solidified what the brand has long held as strengths. Strong shapes, forward-looking technique and that certain Italian sizzle.

Motif and bijoux embellishment gave cutouts sandals and flats textual interest. A cagey stiletto and python criss-cross style with tasseled ankle straps managed to be both spindly and strong, like Casadei’s most enduringly popular style, the Blade heel.

And like the Blade, these new strappy styles would also work very well on the red carpet, where they continues be a popular choice. The update this season was double toe-capping and a thin elastic strap, fashioning it into a vampy Mary-Jane.

For the mainline, the palette was sophisticated neutrals punctuated with Lego primary pops of red, yellow and blue. It allowed for one to imagine wearing the same a platform fringe bootie with Isabel Marant or Versace, all depending on the shade, which dictated the attitude of Casadei shoes.

Speaking of wearing the footwear on display,  how’s this for an on-the-money move: in just twenty days, customers can shop (in store and online) a special black and white mod capsule collection that was also on display, not the usual 6 months wait time.

The Casadei’s dubbed it Space Odyssey after the film and while eyelid-shaped heel pumps and variety of square toe boots had throwback mod style, the very idea of a shop-able presentation is pure nowness.
