Behind the Scenes With Chiara Ferragni And Her Latest Collection

Chances are you’ve heard of Chiara Ferragni. Since launching her blog, The Blonde Salad, in 2009, the 28-year old L.A.-based Italian has grown into an international brand and expanded into footwear with the launch of her eponymous label.

With thriving sales throughout Italy and wider Europe, Ferragni is now set on expanding her line in the U.S. With that in mind, she and her team recently landed in NYC to meet with industry insiders and introduce them to the latest Chiara Ferragni collection.

During Ferragni’s stay in New York, we were fortunate enough to shoot her for an upcoming issue. When we met her, she spoke passionately about her business, and of course, the inspiration behind her latest collection. Ferragni told us, “I want to continue doing what we’re doing now, but on a bigger level.”

And did I mention that she brought her adorable French bulldog, Matilda? Who, might I point out, is the first bilingual animal I have ever met (though she clearly preferred Italian!).

What can you expect from the new collection? Ferragni’s trademark eye motif features heavily, both visibly on many styles but also subtly, in gold on the underside of each pair. Her classic ballet slippers have been reimagined in many colors, fabrications and with varying details. Quite aptly, for a woman with such social media reach, Ferragni has created a range of slippers for fall ’15 that come complete with interchangeable emoji badges.

Be prepared for patent leather slip-on sneakers, glitter high-top kicks, slingback heels with quirky detailing and a standout pair of block-heeled black velvet over-the-knee boots with gold winking eyes.

What’s the best-seller in her collection? That’s not an easy question for her to answer. While Ferragni does not solely wear her own designs, it comes as no surprise that when she does, the style will likely sell out. You can thank her 3.8 million Instagram followers for that.

Wondering how many pairs of shoes Ferragni personally owns? Over 300 and counting.
