The Craziest Runway Shoes From Milan Fashion Week Spring 2016

Bungee cords, pom poms, feathers — Milan Fashion Week offered a number of unexpected footwear finishes for spring ’16. While London is usually the more daring city during Fashion Month, and it certainly didn’t disappoint, Milan proved to be surprisingly experimental this season.

Of course, one can always count on the outlandish designs of labels like Moschino, Dsquared2 and Versace to make a splash. Both Moschino and Versace went with neon colorways for spring, while Dsquared2 took laceup sandals to the extreme with multicolored bungee cords.

Emerging designers also went daring with their runway shoes. Au Jour Le Jour, which made our crazy runway list last year, did it again with its Pop Art-printed boots. And Stella Jean’s fringed slide sandals were offered in rainbow color combinations.

Furry and feathered footwear also made an appearance in Milan. No. 21’s feathered mules were styled with socks (because why not?), while Emilio Pucci added shaggy fur to strappy stilettos. Like it or not, the fur trend is here to stay — Marco de Vincenzo did it as well.
