Jessica Simpson Promotes Her Brand’s 10th Anniversary On ‘The Today Show’

Jessica Simpson appeared on NBC’s “The Today Show” Wednesday morning to promote her namesake brand’s 10th anniversary. What began as a footwear-and-accessories line has since expanded into apparel, fragrances, maternity apparel, girls’ clothing and accessories and a home-goods collection.

Simpson told co-host Savannah Guthrie that the brand hopes to open its own retail locations soon. A decade in, Simpson said, it’s gratifying that many consumers think of her line as more than a celebrity brand.

“For people to see beyond the celebrity and just trust in the brand for being what it is … is remarkable,” said Simpson.

She added that she believes the label works because she pays attention to all kinds of women and their styles.

“I want to dress the everyday girl,” Simpson said. “And you don’t even have to be a fan of me or want to dress like me.”

While some celebrities may not be as involved in their eponymous brands, Simpson said she enjoys playing a hands-on role — and she works closely with her mother, Tina, on the business.

“I like to have my footprint in everything,” she said. “So I see most everything that goes out — and if I don’t see it, my mom sees it.”

Earlier this year, Sequential Brands Group, Inc. acquired a majority interest in the brand.
