John Varvatos prefers his women in heels. The designer was on-hand at the CFDA Awards to support the industry, alongside wife Joyce, when he divulged about his personal shoe closet and preferences.
The designer also recently announced that he will present at New York Fashion Week: Men’s next month. His spring ’16 collection will show on Thursday, July 16. Plus, Varvatos is still riding the high after opening up shop in Detroit.
“Last month, we opened a store in my hometown of Detroit, and we received such an overwhelmingly positive response that it made me want to bring the fashion show back to New York,” he told FN. “I am very excited about coming home to help launch the first-ever New York City menswear week!”

“Way too many to count, I’m in the shoe business. Hundreds in multiple closets and homes.”
2. Heels or flats on a woman?
“Heels. There is just something very sensual about them.”
3. If you were a shoe, what shoe would you be?
“A motorcycle boot, it’s tough and sexy and masculine all at the same time.”
