Kenzo‘s spring ’16 men’s and women’s collection has officially dropped, and it features the brand’s signature flashy aesthetic.
The French brand, led by Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, has built up a major business on its kitschy, colorful designs. The footwear was no different this season, offering riffs on doodle prints and colorful plastic insoles.
For the women’s collection, the designers experimented with jelly soles, which could either feel extremely comfortable or the extreme opposite. The treatment was done on patent strappy sandals and slides. Sneakers were also given thick flatform soles, in either solid patents or digital-print leathers.

Unexpected styles in the collection include a leather Spanish-style mule and a mule sneaker, which is becoming an increasing trend (Vans has a slip-on sneaker mule coming up for spring as well).
On the men’s side, sneakers dominated the offering. Lace-up runners were colored with graphic doodling, or finished in Kenzo’s signature eye print. A few classic styles crept in as well, like leather lace-up oxfords and all-black Chukkah boots.
