L.K. Bennett Spring 2016 Shoe Collection

For L.K. Bennett, colorplay and a revamping of signature silhouettes prevailed for spring ’16. The results were a collection that nicely toed the line between dainty are slightly more daring for the London-based label, a mainstay in Kate Middleton‘s wardrobe.

Adriana peep toe sandals were given fine crisscross strapping in piquant shades of red and shocking pink. The demi-wedge was revived via the Alex pointed toe shape, which with a thin ankle strap and smattering of stone embellishment, called to mind the refined yet sensible styles Sofia Coppola has made her signature. For evening, it even came in a pale gold.

But the best example of a shoe makeover in the collection was the Amira pump, which took the classic and conservative Sledge 2 (yes, the Middleton one) and reimagined it as a gypset style in jewel-tone patchwork.

Elsewhere, proper slingbacks  and d’orsays in demi heights were skewed just so, in patents, thick straps and striping. These kind of low heels have found a new irreverence on gamine types in ripped jeans and sweet collars, after all.

Speaking of sweet, Mary Janes came with a new sturdy heel and in mixed metallics for added charm. Talk about shine control.
