Men’s Spring 2016 Trend: Designer Slip-On Sneakers

From printed uppers to thicker soles, slip-on sneakers get elevated for spring.

The classic sneaker style — often favored for its slip-on-and-go ease — has been updated with new, technical fabrications. Luxury brands like Sergio Rossi used pebbled-leather uppers with broguing perforation, as well as a zipper-tracked midsole. Valentino continued the reworking of the midsole, adding espadrille-style roping.

Punchy prints also made an appearance. Jimmy Choo opted for a pop art-style print, while Givenchy used its signature stars in a black-and-white colorway. Prada extended the digital prints used in its spring ’16 ready-to-wear down to the shoes.

Classic brands offered their own spins on the casual sneaker. Salvatore Ferragamo used a woven-leather treatment, while Car Shoe added a contrasting zigzag sole.

To style these slip-ons, pair them with jeans and a sweater for effortless fall panache — the shoe is pretty much foolproof.
