Always one for a high-impact collection, designer Fausto Puglisi offered a bold assortment of Western boots for his spring ’16 show at Milan Fashion Week.
While Puglisi’s ready-to-wear had a theatrical vibe of its own, including bejeweled crop tops to toga-style draping, the footwear took center stage in his latest collection. The traditional cowboy boot was done in a pointy-toe silhouette with metal details, either in a pale pink leopard print or with crystal embellishing.
Sure, a rhinestone cowboy boot may scream “gaudy” to some, but one must remember that Puglisi is Italian, and when thinking to brands like Versace or Dolce & Gabbana, it’s especially evident that those labels’ customers are looking for flash-and-awe.

Subtler styles included pointy-toe pumps in solid-colored suede or printed leather, as well as mule sandals with golden metal studding.
Despite a recent focus on his shoe collection, Puglisi is still essentially finding his stride in the accessories department. But one thing is clear: At least he has a point of view.
