New York Fashion Week Spring 2016: Confirmed Shoe Collaborations

New York Fashion Week has officially arrived, promising a bevy of new footwear styles and trends as designers showcase their latest ready-to-wear collections. With rising labels like Novis and Tanya Taylor — brands that have yet to fully establish their accessories business — showing throughout the week, a number of new, exclusive collaborations with footwear brands have popped up as a result.

For the top spring ’16 shoe collaborations to look out for, see below.

Paul Andrew x Tanya Taylor
Going into their fifth season together, footwear designer Paul Andrew will create exclusive runway footwear for Tanya Taylor’s spring ’16 show. In past seasons, the footwear has resulted in both printed platform heels and minimalist pointy heels.

Christian Louboutin Collabs
You’ll be seeing a lot of Christian Louboutin’s signature red soles on the runway. The designer is working with a number of labels on runway shoes, including Zac Posen, Jenny Packham, Naeem Khan, Dion Lee and The Blonds. In addition to the running list, Louboutin will also design custom shoes and nail art for Cushnie et Ochs (using his own line of nail polish, we assume).

Creatures of the Wind x APL
Athletic brand Athletic Propulsion Labs (APL) will create three spring ’16 styles for Creatures of the Wind. “We wanted to create a silhouette that was high-fashion enough for the runway but could also translate to everyday life, while still embodying our core values of performance and function,” said APL co-founder Ryan Goldston.

Manolo Blahnik Collabs
The iconic footwear designer Manolo Blahnik will collaborate on runway shoes with a number of different labels, creating custom styles as well as updating pre-existing looks in new materials or colors. The list includes shoes for Carolina Herrera, J. Mendel, Milly, Adam Lippes, Wes Gordon, Protagonist and Barbara Tfank.

Misha Nonoo x Aldo Rise
Designer Misha Nonoo and Aldo Rise will collaborate for a third season. “My starting point was the 1960s minimal art movement and the simultaneous spirited beginnings of the women’s rights movement,” said Nonoo. “The juxtaposition of influences allowed the collection to play with subtly sexy uniform silhouettes, which are paired with feminine but tailored flatforms. The flatforms make life easy, taking you seamlessly from ‘day to play.’” Nonoo is forgoing a traditional runway show during New York Fashion Week, instead opting for an Instagram-only presentation.

Melissa x Jeremy Scott
Jelly shoe brand Melissa is partnering with Jeremy Scott, unveiling two plastic footwear looks for his spring ’16 show. The styles will include an ankle boot and a mule, and they will both be available in select Melissa stores following the show, as well as in Colette in Paris, 10 Corso Como in Milan and The Alchemist in Miami.

Jean-Michele Cazabat x Sophie Theallet
Longtime friends Jean-Michele Cazabat and Sophie Theallet will collaborate once again on shoes for spring ’16. Past season styles included a multicolor strappy sandal.

Bionda Castana Collabs
Bionda Castana is collaborating with both Emilio de la Morena and Charles Youseff.

Novis x Malone Souliers
New footwear label Malone Souliers, who collaborated with David Koma last season, will create runway footwear for Novis this season. “This particularly applied in landscape embroidery on strappy sandals to complement their damsel-in-control dresses,” said designer Mary Alice Malone. “The shoes just had to be [versatile] enough to play with all the shadows cast by the pristine-yet-playful silhouettes of their spring collection.”
