Peter Dundas Named Creative Director At Roberto Cavalli: His Best Footwear Moments At Pucci

Peter Dundas, who presented his final collection for Emilio Pucci earlier this month, has been named the new creative director at Roberto Cavalli. The move is more of a return than a new beginning for Dundas, who served as Cavalli’s head designer from 2002 to 2005.

Dundas will present his first collection for Cavalli in September at Milan Fashion Week and will be spearheading both the men’s and women’s ready-to-wear and accessories collections. No announcements have been made regarding who his successor will be.

“This is a homecoming for me,” Dundas told WWD. “It is an honor for me to continue to evolve the wonderful world of Roberto Cavalli, and I am very excited by the possibilities and potential of this unique brand. I cannot wait to get started.”

While at Pucci, the designer brought his signature vampy looks to the fading Italian brand, which gained prominence back in the 1960s.

Dundas elevated the label’s legacy back into the spotlight, with the collection finding its way to megastars like Rihanna and Beyoncé (who wore custom Pucci during her “Mrs. Carter Show” tour).

At Cavalli, Dundas now has a similar opportunity to reimagine a brand, perhaps taking Cavalli in a less reductive direction.

In honor of the news, we’ve highlighted Dundas’ top footwear moments while at Pucci.

From optical-illusion thigh-high boots to cutout stilettos, Dundas’ attention to footwear evolved each season.
