Sam Smith New Face of Balenciaga Fall 2015 Men’s Campaign

Balenciaga has announced that Sam Smith will be featured in the label’s fall ’15 campaign. This is Smith’s first major fashion campaign. The singer is seen in both a video and photos shot by photographer Josh Olins, who is also responsible for campaigns for Jil Sander, Adidas, H&M and most recently for Giuseppe Zanotti’s fall ’15 featuring Karolina Kurkova.

In the campaign, Smith dons looks from the fall ’15 collection, which according to the label, takes inspiration from nature.

“I am absolutely honored to have been chosen to be the face of Balenciaga,” said Smith. “I have been a devoted fan of the brand for a while now. I love how intimate it feels, and how involved Alexander has been and is with the brand. I never in my wildest dreams thought I’d be wearing these clothes let alone modeling them. So this is a dream come true, and I hope the beginning of a lovely long relationship with Alexander and the House.”

Balenciaga creative director Alexander Wang expressed his excitement in working with Smith. “Beyond his tremendous talent, Sam Smith conveys a quiet elegance and a subtle sensuality that are perfect for BALENCIAGA,” he said. “He represents both sensitivity and power—the dualities of the Balenciaga man.”

The ads are set to appear in print publications beginning in August.
