Sarah Jessica Parker Promotes SJP Collection On ‘The Today Show’

Sarah Jessica Parker has long been lauded as a style icon since her early days on “Sex and the City” playing Carrie Bradshaw. Eleven years after the show ended, Parker has established herself as a fashionista in her own right and now a successful designer.

During two appearances on “The Today Show,” this morning, Parker said she had been thinking about launching shoes for years leading up to the creation of SJP Collection but wanted to make sure she did it right.

“I felt it would be dishonorable of me in some way if I didn’t want to wear the shoe myself then how could I ask anybody to spend their hard-earned dollars on them?”

Parker said she credits her business partner and friend George Malkemus, CEO of Manolo Blahnik, as one of the reasons the line has enjoyed such success so far.

Less than two years after the SJP Collection launch, the line is offered in major retailers including Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s as well as on ZapposCouture.com and NeimanMarcus.com.

This summer, the SJP Collection Tartt Mar-Jane heels in a shimmering, iridescent silver colorway sold out not once but twice. The style sold out on both ZapposCouture.com and NeimanMarcus.com.

Parker has also made her mark on New York Fashion Week, collaboring with designer Tracy Reese on the footwear for Reese’s spring ’16 collection.

And this weekend she’s continue her New York whirlwind with an event at Bloomingdale’s flagship location for VIP customers tonight and a personal appearance on Saturday.
