Tom Ford will unveil his spring ’16 womenswear collection via a video on his website, to be released October 2. The designer, who has shown in London and Los Angeles in the past, is forgoing the traditional runway format for a more interactive digital experience.
The announcement was made on Tom Ford’s website, where a preview video was released alongside the hashtag #TFWSS16.
In the preview clip, a model sits on top a light-up floor wearing ultra-high platform stilettos. The footwear strikes a familiar note—the designer presented skyscraper heels back at his spring ’15 show.

Digital unveilings of collections is proving to be a rising trend. This season, designer Misha Nonoo also forwent a runway shot and unveiled her collection on Instagram. Still, considering Ford’s usual high-profile shows with a large roster of celebrity attendees, the choice here is especially surprising.
