Tom Ford To Unveil Spring 2016 Collection Via Website Video

Tom Ford will unveil his spring ’16 womenswear collection via a video on his website, to be released October 2. The designer, who has shown in London and Los Angeles in the past, is forgoing the traditional runway format for a more interactive digital experience.

The announcement was made on Tom Ford’s website, where a preview video was released alongside the hashtag #TFWSS16.

In the preview clip, a model sits on top a light-up floor wearing ultra-high platform stilettos. The footwear strikes a familiar note—the designer presented skyscraper heels back at his spring ’15 show.

On the brand’s Twitter page, it dropped a few clues as to who can be expected to appear in the video. Amongst those pictured included model Lucky Blue Smith, who starred in Tom Ford’s fall ’15 campaign.

Digital unveilings of collections is proving to be a rising trend. This season, designer Misha Nonoo also forwent a runway shot and unveiled her collection on Instagram. Still, considering Ford’s usual high-profile shows with a large roster of celebrity attendees, the choice here is especially surprising.
