The Best Men’s Loafers For Spring

With spring weather officially sprung, loafers are officially read to be brought out of storage. Luckily, the spring ’15 market offers a number of new, modern options for him — from classic driving mocs to new takes on the penny loafer.

Timeless options include loafers from classic brands like Tod’s or Gucci, which has made its horsebit style its signature.

A number of emerging brands have also created new spins on the staple style. Feit offers a unique take on the slip-on loafer with its two-tone, unstructured version. CB Made In Italy takes on the camo print and combines it with a denim-look canvas.

Luxe takes include Tom Ford’s velvet tassel loafer as well as Loewe’s suede style.

To bring the shoe into the year-round category, modern styling (as seen at many runway shows) encourages socks and loafers to be worn together. You can have fun here, with either clashing or matching textures and prints.

Watch on FN

“You can pair socks with loafers, especially for the holiday season,” designer Louis Leeman told FN in December. “But they have to be thin cotton socks. A nice dark color would be nice — a dark purple or burgundy.”
